Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic equipment and/or computer-aided support tools, as well as collaboration with other team members and departments and/or research initiatives.Skills needed:• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers to effectively resolve issues. • Technical troubleshooting skills as they relate to installed hardware, computer, and software • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and Windows operating systems, including Windows 2000/ XP/ 7 and Windows Server 2000/2003.• Working knowledge Local Area Networks (LAN's) including frewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPN's), and wireless infrastructure such as 802.11”x”• Ability to use common computer applications (i.e. Word and Excel) • Be proactive and use independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures. Field Engineer - This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of electronic circuits to the level of interconnecting electronic modules together and being able to troubleshoot the resulting system to determine where failures are occurring; along the lines of an electronics technician, not electrical engineer. This position does require travel throughout the United States with the Field Technician being the point of contact with their counterpart on the customer side for the duties they are expected to perform. SKILLS NEEDED: • Excellent time management and the ability to oversee and direct others. • Innovative thinking, excellent interpersonal skills, Attention to detail. • Understanding of electronic circuits at a modular level such as the installation of vehicle audio systems, security systems, or other types of electronic control systems in other fields where isolating operational problems to the module level would be required. • Strong mechanical aptitude. • Technical writing (creation of installation manuals, schematics, etc.). • Ability to read and understand electronic circuit schematics and mechanical drawings. • Basic assembly and testing skills using common tools and equipment. SKILLS DESIRED - Intermediate computer skills using products such as Microsoft Word and Excel with experience in AutoCAD and other such programs a plus.
