Electrical Engineer

Details: The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction, and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental, infrastructure, and emergency response markets.Summary:•Performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects.•Supports procurement and construction phases or projects with engineering knowledge and experience.•Performs other duties as required.Responsibilities:•Lead engineering projects and work with design/drafting personnel. Interact with internal and external clients and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and staff.•Collect and interpret engineering data and perform detailed engineering.•Prepare calculations, specifications, and construction drawings.•Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards.•Support bidding and planning efforts.•Monitor and manage time and cost for project which you are responsible.•Some travel required to project sites to collect data and to observe work.Qualifications/Competencies/Experience:•BS Electrical Engineering.•Ten (10) or more years experience in Electrical Engineering related projects.•Registered professional engineer.•Experience preparing design documents, including construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for low voltage power distribution and controls systems.•Field experience such as construction or plant or manufacturing experience.•Experience in electrical cost estimation and material take-offs for bidding purposes.Plus Qualities:•Instrumentation design experience.•Field troubleshooting experience.•Experience with sustainable/renewable energy sources.•PLC/HMI programming and/or troubleshooting experience.•Medium voltage distribution experience.•Building communications and safety systems experience.Normal office environment - typically interacting with Architectural/Engineering staff and other professionals. Some short term travel will be required to visit project sites to gather technical information required for the design. At other times onsite construction support may be required. Overtime required when necessary to achieve project deliverables or submission of proposals.

Electrical Engineer

Details: Position Summary: Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work in part of a major systems project which overlaps all Parker groups. Scope/Supervision and Interaction: Reports to the BUM and or Project Manager while having no direct reports the Engineer I will lead small and or large technology teams. Essential Functions: -Perform routine engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks in one or more of the following areas: -Mechanical:  Responsible for the implementation of basic design standards into the division product lines.  Must understand drawing practices and tolerancing and be familiar with CAD tools.  Requires:  basic understanding of fluid mechanics principles, kinematics and stress analysis; working knowledge of materials selection and manufacturing methods and familiar with MIL SPEC/STDS applicable to product line; and basic understanding of divisions products and applicable to product line; and basic understanding of division products and applications.  Troubleshoot and diagnose products not operating within specification. -Electronics:  Responsible for electronic design e.g., analog, digital power electronics and/or motors.  Must understand electronics schematics and principles of circuit design. -Software:  Responsible for software development, coding and testing.  Write and document straightforward code in at least one language. -Packaging:  Responsible for electronic packaging for meeting environmental requirements.  Simple analysis. -Optics:  Responsible for the use of optics in one of the areas of requisition, transmission and interpretation of information.  Familiar with available technology. -Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
