Lacks Trim Systems currently has an opportunity for a Product Engineer – Automotive - Plastics to be located out of the facilities in Grand Rapids, MI. Summary:Responsible for managing the design and development from concept through manufacturing, in order to meet customer and Company objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Product Engineer – Automotive - Plastics will include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reviews conceptual designs for feasibility and properly documents and communicates issues to the customer for review. Effectively communicates such items as customer engineer changes and open issues to the customer and the Company so that feasibility and cost can be reviewed. Develops and maintains design failure modes and effects analysis (DFMEAs), design verification plan and report (DVP&Rs) and other robust Engineering tools to meet customer and Company objectives. Provides support to the Sales Department in such areas as quoting new and existing product as well as providing technical support. Reviews product designs and gives direction to the CAD department on proper product design and print development. Develops continual improvement methods and processes such as cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Provides support to the Program Engineers (Sales Engineers) to ensure that customer deadlines and product design objectives are met. Develops geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T) and gage designs that represent the vehicle build to monitor and control our processes. Provides support to other departments as needed on product launches. Attends and participates in required meetings.
