Software Engineer

Details: VIZ Media is looking for a Software Engineer to join our VIZ Labs team! Proficiency with Web/HTML5 (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) technologies A MUST Extensive knowledge of at least two of the following: Ruby, C/C++, Java A MUST A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design A MUST Experience with high-traffic, production systems A MUST Experience with cloud-based infrastructure A MUST Experience as technical lead of a team A PLUS Experience with Amazon EC2, S3 A PLUS Experience with web browser engineering A PLUS Experience with iOS technologies (Cocoa, Objective-C) A PLUS Experience with Android development A PLUS Experience with NoSQL databases A PLUSSUMMARY The Software Engineer is a core part of the engineering team. This position designs and develops programming systems making specific determinations about system performance. This position also analyzes and designs the development of software systems to form a basis for the solution of information processing problems. PRINCIPAL DUTIES Demonstrates ability to complete a technical project independently and as part of a team Architects and implements key elements of the VIZ content delivery platform Takes a junior contributor role in development of new programs, analyzing current programs and processes, and making recommendations that yield better quality code Responsible for analysis of current programs including performance, diagnosis and troubleshooting of problems, and designing solutions to improve quality of output Provides feedback to analysis/training staff about performance considerations / usability issues concerning software specifications and implementation Participates in efforts to share expertise within the company Supports management of the team's technical infrastructure (e.g., repository, build system, testing system) under guidance from engineering management Collaborates with others on the teamIn addition to these responsibilities, performs other activities as assigned
