Manufacturing Engineer

Details: Job Summary: The Engineering Manager will be responsible for Manufacturing Engineering, process planning, coordinating, administering and guiding the staff and activities of the manufacturing engineering function of the organization. This will require coordination with other departments of the manufacturing division to assure that functional requirements are met at the lowest cost.  Directs and oversees Estimating and Planning processes to optimize all manufacturing operations.  Establishes policies and standards within the department, and provides administrative and technical assistance in support of department projects and research.  Essential Duties: The Engineering Manager’s responsibilities include the following:  Work closely with Management, Production, Quality and Marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures. Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities. Participate in the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of department facilities and equipment. Direct, review, and approve process plans, drawings and changes. Work with HR to recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence. Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department. Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, , enforcing rules, and making decisions about the utilization of resources. Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates. Develop and improve manufacturing processes as required to meet production demand. Work with the Impresa team to deliver new products on time.  Includes: capacity and capability assessment, process selection and development, SOP development, cell design & implementation, control plan development and capital project justification & implementation. Support continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing operations. Lead Kaizen events as needed. Interface with colleagues, customers, vendors and others to understand requirements, assess feasibility of new/existing products, and improve production techniques. Analyze technology trends, plans and execute capital projects. Clearly communicate data and feedback to other departments so decisions can be timely and optimized. Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques to develop flow through manufacturing processes. Champion the use of lean manufacturing principles, based on systems thinking and the application of statistical methods, throughout the assigned manufacturing cells.   Develop Standard Operating Procedures. Assist in determining root cause and corrective action of non-conforming product and disposition in Epicor. Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.
