Embedded Software Developer - Lead

Details: Responsible for evaluating and implementing design solutions into new and existing products. This position involves mentoring to less experienced engineering staff and acting as a subject matter expert (SME) in assigned areas. This job primarily exists to support new product development, product redesign and to provide technical support for the marketing and operations group as it relates to the existing product line.Key Tasks & Responsibilities Lead responsibility for new and existing lighting control system timeclock / system controllers.Responsible for evaluating and implementing design solutions into new and existing products. This position involves mentoring to less experienced engineering staff and acting as a subject matter expert (SME) in assigned areas. This job primarily exists to support new product development, product redesign and to provide technical support for the marketing and operations group as it relates to the existing product line.Responsible for evaluating and making recommendations regarding new electronic components and technologies that have the potential to be implemented into new products that provide superior features or cost advantages in relation to competitive products.Evaluates and makes sourcing recommendations regarding critical to quality components. Evaluations include creating and implementing test plans to verify that components meet internal reliability requirements. Responsible for ensuring that suppliers chosen meet strict quality and reliability standards.Research and review industry trends and technological advancements by attending trade shows, reading various trade publications, and working with vendors.Supports Marketing Technical services group as an SME to resolve problems that occur during installation. Also provides SME support to the Post Sales group to troubleshoot and resolve problems that occur under warranty. This support includes failure analysis of returned product and occasional job site visits to determine the root cause for reported problems.Design and implement new equipment and manufacturing processes to increase production's efficiency and quality.Responsible for creating test plans and writing reports for new products requiring safety agency approvals such as UL, CSA. Also responsible for making sure products are in compliance with various other requirements such as FCC, Energy Star and California Energy Commission certifications.
